Every now and then I got asks about the Sim hair porting process for DAO and that people have trouble to install the script. So, here is a short and not detailed tutorial.
It’s really pretty easy. Don’t worry, it get’s worse quickly the deeper you get into Blender ;)
Download:
- Blender 2.49b
- Blender Import/Export script
- Phyton 2.6
Use Blender 2.49b exe and install the programms. Then just unpack the Import/Export script into your Blender folder.
Then you can use the DragonAge_Tools Blend file to open Blender.
It will might be look like this:
Don’t use the Tools_Manager. Use this one:
then you should see this:
Of course not with ef_har_NewSea_Jump_0.msh. Load a vanilla mesh file for the bone weighting and for replacing it with your port. Don’t forget to select the mmh.
The porting process itself is explain in Boodrl’s vids.
I will only answer porting question when you have watched those vids and tried to port a hairstyle. I will not answer questions about Blender options and how to use them because I haven’t much knowledge myself and there are enough Blender tutorials which explain those things.
Yep, you have to read a lot and there will be a lot of trial and error before things work.
Boodrl’s vid explain the main things which you have to know about hair porting. Although she uses the old script you will find there what you need for your ports. You don’t have to download the XNA- Lara stuff!
