Steam Winter Sale start date announced (update)

Original story: Just when you thought your wallet might survive the holiday season, along comes another Steam sale.

PayPal U.K. this morning, announced that the Steam Winter Sale hits on Dec. 22, also known as Thursday, or if you prefer, in two days.

Steam’s last big sale, the annual Autumn Sale, kicked off just about a month ago and included some tremendous price drops on games like Life is Strange, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Dark Souls and Civilization 6.

The sale kicks off on the same day that Valve opens the door on voting for the Steam Awards. Each day until Dec. 29, visitors will have 24 hours to vote on a new category. The winners will be announced on New Year’s Eve.

The first category is “The Villain Most in Need of a Hug Award.” And the nominees are Borderlands 2, Dead by Daylight, Far Cry 3, Far Cry 4 and Portal 2. Hopefully some of those games will also be tossed into the mix for sales drops.
