Save Connor - No Fade

This mod gives the player an alternative way to save Connor without sending a mage into the Fade.

It is not a ‘Skip the Fade’ type mod, in which you would proceed like you were going to do the ritual but the actual ‘Fade’ part would be skipped. It is more of an ‘Avoid the Fade’ type mod which gives you an alternative to the Fade that is both lore consistent and not a cheat.

I always thought that the ritual was too risky. Sending a mage, alone, into the Fade, into the realm of demons, to try and defeat one, just doesn’t sound like a good idea. The only character you can really afford to risk, and who has a reason do go on such a suicide mission is Jowan and the only way you can send him is if you travel to the tower and get the assistance of the circle mages but again is it a good idea to leave the castle for at least a couple days while a powerful demon is still there? Wouldn't seem to be.

It is said that there are only two options, defeat the demon in the castle or have a mage travel into the Fade and defeat the demon there. But that’s actually not true. If a mage warden goes into the Fade they can intimidate the demon into leaving without fuss or bloodshed. So there is a third, lore consistent, option. The demon can leave on its own.

How to use this mod
=========================

To use of the mod, the Warden and party must fight through the castle and then confront the Connor/demon in the family quarters. After defeating the Connor/demon, Isolde will appear and beg you not to kill him. The Warden can agree not to or can use one of the new dialogue options, either way Isolde will eventually realize there is no help for him.

At that point there will be a new dialogue option regarding the demon. Selecting it will then allow the player to choose to either try and persuade the demon to leave or attempt to intimidate the demon into leaving.

If successful, the demon will acknowledge it and the scene will cut to the dockside funeral with both Connor and Isolde present. Afterward, both Connor and Isolde will be present when you talk to Teagan in the Arl's bedroom and back at camp Alistair will thank the Warden for saving the Arl’s family. The epilogue slides will be the same as if the demon was defeated in the Fade.

If unsuccessful, the scene continues and either the Warden or Isolde will kill the boy.

There are also additional dialogue options in prior conversation with Isolde designed for immersion and role-playing, but they have no effect on gameplay.

Installation
=========================

Download, extract and place into override.

It can be installed at any time prior to confronting the Connor/demon.

=========================

Compatibility
=========================

Make sure that there are no copies of either ‘arl100cr_isolde.dlb/g’or ‘arl220cr_connor.dlb/g’ in override.

If using The Warden's Women the 'arl100cr_isolde.dlb/g' files must be deleted/removed prior to confronting the Connor/demon.

I believe there are copies of both those files in ZDF, IA and Magenta Emerald, but there may be others.
