Hot Lava looks like Mirror’s Edge mixed with your childhood imagination

Klei Entertainment’s next game is its first 3D game

The next game from Klei Entertainment, the developer behind Mark of the Ninja, Invisible, Inc. and Don’t Starve, is a nod to childhood games of the imagination. Hot Lava is a first-person platformer in which players will jump from coffee tables to couch cushions, through elementary school hallways and nightmare worlds all with one thing in common: The floor is lava.

Klei calls Hot Lava "a game of dexterity and ingenuity" filled with "treacherous obstacles" for players to leap, slide and swing across. The game’s debut trailer shows what players will have to contend with in Hot Lava (spoiler: it’s hot lava) in a variety of settings.

The developer is currently accepting sign ups for a beta version of Hot Lava at the game’s website. More details on the Windows PC game are available at its Steam listing.
